From Sunday, October 22nd – Stewardship Sunday
Scripture: Deuteronomy 26:1-12
Sermon: Thank You Notes
Rev. Cathi Huvaere preaching
If you are a Tonight Show fan, you know that every Friday night Jimmy Fallon writes his Thank You notes. His are meant to be a humorous commentary on current events, but it reminds me that the handwritten note of appreciation is fast becoming a lost art. My grandchildren take a photo of themselves with the item they have received, add a word of thanks, and send digitally to the generous giver before the wrapping paper has hit the floor! Either way, expressing gratitue for that which we have received is important, whether we do it in paper or digital form. Read this text from Deuteronomy, and consider what God (through Moses) is askin gof the people. Why does God ask it? Does God need the vegetables and fruits? What does God want us to learn? Is this still true today? Please bring your Pledge Card to church this Sunday. As we gather the card together during worship, we will give thanks and praise to God for all that we have received.
