On the Way to Bethlehem: During Advent & Christmas of 2024 we journeyed to Bethlehem as Children & a donkey helped to show us the way throughout Pastor Sarah’s sermon series.

It’s a Wonder-Full Life: Spiritual practice feeds that part of ourselves that is oriented toward
serenity, harmony, truth, compassion, gratitude, love and joy. But these are not always words we use to describe the role of money in our lives. In the classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a crisis of money
creates vastly diverse reactions from several characters that can hold up a mirror to our own relationships with money.

Do Unto Others: In October 2024, Pastor Sarah led us through a sermon series during a divisive election season where we learned about Doing Unto Others through kindness, compassion, humility, respect and love.

Uncommon Wisdom: In September 2024 Pastor Sarah will share some uncommon biblical wisdom during this 5 part preaching series.

Reshaped: What We’re Made For – In this 4 part series from August 2024 – Pastor Sarah led us through a worship series about getting animated and embracing change. AND we played with a lot of play-do! Experience this series again!

Welcome Pastor Sarah Elliott – Pastor Sarah joins Bethany UMC on July 1, 2024. These are some of her first sermons as our pastor.

June 2024 Transition Worship – During June 2024, Pastor Kayla was on vacation and then making her move. We had a variety of worship in absence of traditional preaching. A service of Scripture and Song, a guest speaker from Asbury CDC, an opportunity to experience preaching from our Michigan Annual Conference, an old fashioned hymn sing and we welcomed the Rev. John Hice, our retired District Superintendent.

5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations – Pastor Kayla’s final sermon series with us was on the 5 practices of fruitful congregations. Each week she walks through one of the practices. Included here is Pastor Kayla’s final sermon at our Pentecost celebration as well.

Lent 2024 – Pastor Kayla preached through this season of Lent using the Lenten meditations from the Kate Bowler book: Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day! Includes Ash Wednesday through Easter including Holy Week.

Lay Speakers Includes many sermons from our laity over the years including Jerry Mowl, our All Music Sunday, and most recently Randy Hildebrandt of God’s Country Community Ministry. We also include here a guest clergy speaker, Kim Bos from November of 2023.

Ordinary Time 2024 – From Epiphany/Baptism of our Lord Sunday until we reach Ash Wednesday we follow the lectionary and experience Scripture in a variety of ways.

Advent 2023 – Our theme for advent was around cultivating presence and being present with hope, joy, love and faith in this season.

Stewardship Series 2023 – We learn to stewards God’s resources as we consider “Earn all you can, Save all you can, Give all you can” and conclude with a celebration of our gifts and pledges at Thanksgiving.

Philippians Series – Pastor Kayla is diving into the Book of Philippians for 4 weeks in September and October of 2023.

September 2023 – We followed the lectionary during September, but on September 3rd we had a lay member deliver a message, on September 10th we were outside and then we were back in the sanctuary on September 17th. Catch up here!

Summer 2023 Worship – Pastor Kayla continues in the lectionary this summer and shares some special messages with us. This playlist has worship from June/July/August 2023.

Easter to Pentecost – 2023 – We stick with the lectionary & celebrate some special Sundays in this season after Easter and also welcome the laity to share the pulpit!

Lent 2023 – Seeking: Honest Questions for a deeper faith – This Lenten season we explore Scripture and questions each week as Pastor Kayla leads us through this season leading up to Easter.

Epiphany 2023 & Spiritual Gifts series– Pastor Kayla begins the new year with Star Words and the celebration of the Lord’s Baptism. Then, we begin a sermon series about Spiritual Gifts which will continue until Lent begins.

Advent 2022 – From Generations to Generations – In this series we are considering the stories from the Bible, our faith and our lives to show us how God weaves a story in and through us to transform the world

Stewardship 2022 – Pastor Kayla is spending 5 weeks on stewardship preaching beginning October 23rd.

Sept/Oct 2022 Worship – In September & October Pastor Kayla will preach from the lectionary. On 10/16, Laity Sunday, Jerry Mowl was once again in the pulpit at Bethany UMC to preach. Catch up on Fall Worship.

Pillars of Faith – In August 2022, Pastor Kayla leads us through a sermon series that starts in Hebrews 11 and we consider the Pillars of Faith from the Bible and hear testimony from pillars of faith within our own churches at Clio: Bethany and Otisville UMC.

Pastor Kayla’s Welcome Series – In July 2022, we will be getting to know Rev. Kayla Roosa, as she begins her ministry in the cooperative parish.

Pastor Cathi’s Retirement Series – In the Season after Easter as she prepares for retirement, Pastor Cathi shares some of her favorite books and then some memorable songs with us.
