Bethany United Methodist Mission Committee
We are a group of men and women who plan and work to support missions with the help of our church members. We meet, usually on Thursdays at 10am, once a month. We plan our fundraising projects and decide where to send our donations. We are blessed by a congregation who enthusiastically support and care for others in our area and across the world. We enjoy working together and we welcome new members.
One mission that we support is sending socks & other items to God’s Country Cooperative Parish in the Upper Peninsula. Our missionary, Randy Hildebrandt, serves seven small United Methodist churches in upper Michigan. The churches work together to support each other and we help with their special needs.
Another project that we support is Clean Water. There is a donation display in the Narthex of the church.
Three major fundraising projects we hold each year are:
February – Beef Stew Luncheon
June – Strawberry Brunch
October – Potato Brunch
The Love Loaves we hand out in the spring are collected the Sunday before Thanksgiving and is another way the congregation supports Missions. Love Loaves are little banks that we pass out (ask for one at the office if interested) and then you can use them to put pocket change in throughout the year, finally returning those savings to the church just before Thanksgiving. You don’t have to have a little bank to give. If you join us the Sunday before Thanksgiving, feel free to put any amount in our special offering for Missions. Every gift counts!
The Missions committee represents one way our congregation serves as the Body of Christ, serving our community near and far, and helping to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
