Sermon: Counterpoint: Faithfulness versus Denial

On each of the Sundays in Lent, we will read a portion of the story of Christ’s arrest and crucifixion. In Mark’s Gospel, there are sharp contrasts between Jesus’ behavior / choices and those of the people around him. We will study these contrasts, and examine our own hearts. This week, read this text from Mark 14 and consider the contrast between Jesus and Peter. How does Jesus react in the face of genuine, life-threatening danger? How does Peter react in the face of potential danger?
