Our Youth (5th – 12th grade) Sunday School Class will start this Sunday (Sept 9th) at 9am, as well as our younger kids (Kindergarten – 4th grade) and our two adult classes. We will be doing a 8-week study on the Book of Acts, as well as interspersing games, discussions, activities, and a whole lot of fun! This week especially we will be discussion an introduction to the book of Acts talking about the meaning of a $20 bill and how it connects with communion. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church at 810-686-5151 or email Marc Middleton at firstname.lastname@example.org ~Have a blessed day! 🙂
Here are a few tips for getting through the sermon that might help parents of young kids concerned about bringing them to worship. Operation Christmas Child – We packed & shipped 102 boxes in November! We continue to collect items for next year, feel free to drop donations off any time. This is an awesome mission project that the kids can work on all year long. This year, our boxes were shipped to Zambia. Roller Skating – Don’t forget that Roller Skating is continuing on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. This is a night of great fun & exercise. It’s a great time for the kids to see what the church building looks like and meet some of the people here without any stress or anxiety. Skating is right here in our Fellowship Hall and it is perfect for new skaters just learning and even for parents. We have skates available and hope to see you there!Greetings! Working with the kids brings lots of enjoyment and seeing the kids become excited about our lessons and interested in learning more brings so much fulfillment. We wanted to share a few updates from recent weeks at Children’s Ministry and invite more kids to join us. Children’s ministry is focused on Grades 4 and below. Sunday School – Children’s Sunday School meets on Sunday mornings at 9am. All kids are invited. We have Bible lessons and a craft. At the same time, classes are meeting for all ages, so come as a family! Wednesday Night Live – Kids up to 4th grade meet at 5:00pm for class. Many kids arrive a bit early for a snack at 4:30pm. Following class, we all gather with the adults and the older youth for community dinner together. In January 2017, we started working on Gratefulness Journals. The kids have really been enjoying drawing pictures of what they are thankful for every day. The grown-ups around here are feeling blessed that we have such a thankful group of kids who think of others and are thoughtful and considerate. Worship – We still have Prayer Packets available during Worship (Sundays at 10:30) for children to bring to their seat in the pew and color and do quiet activities. Ask any usher and they’ll get your child a prayer packet. Write the child’s name on it and leave it with an usher when you leave and it will be ready and waiting for you next time you return to worship. It’s really fun to watch the journals improve and change as the children’s grow. Also, don’t forget that we have a nursery attendant available during worship if you want to worship without the little ones. Nursery is best suited for children up to age 5. We love having children in worship. If you worry about bringing a child with you, please speak with someone at the welcome desk or at the church office.
CORE & Wednesday Night Live are underway and going well. CORE is an after school program designed for 5th through 12th graders. They meet with Marc at 2:45 pm on Wednesdays. There is time for homework and fellowship and Marc also leads a devotional. After CORE, Wednesday Night Live begins with a snack at 4:30. Then, at 5:00pm there are classes for ALL ages, from kindergarten through adults. The young people have a choice of classes that are offered and Pastor LuAnn leads an adult Bible Study at 5pm in the lounge. Aftewards everyone comes together in the Fellowship Hall at 6pm for a community dinner. Come for classes, stay for dinner, or pick and choose what you are able to participate in. In addition, both youth and Children’s ministry are continuing Sunday School lessons on Sunday mornings at 9am. Marc leads 5th – 12th grades and Amy teaches and does crafts with Preschool through 4th graders. Some kids in the 3rd through 6th grade range opt to stay in Amy’s children’s class. We are really easy going about this and want your child to feel comfortable. See Amy or Marc with any questions or special needs. Come & Roller Skate! Skating has started & you and your children are invited! It’s just a buck per skater and family can stay and watch. No extra charges for skates, we have plenty available in all sizes. This is a really fun time. Hope to see you right here at the church roller skating rink (aka Fellowship Hall) on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. Everyone in the community is welcome. One of our major Youth Missions activities is in full swing this month. We’ve been collecting donations all year for our Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. The shoe box packing party is on November 11th starting with pizza at 5pm and then the packing starts. Come & share in the fun of giving! There is a lot happening with the Youth & Children’s ministry. See Amy or Marc or inquire at the church office for ways that you can get involved! Also, a BIG Thank you to all who made the Fall Festival a huge success. Thanks for the volunteers and donors as well as those who came to spend the day here. We had about 8 games for treats, a craft station with 2 different crafts, cookie decorating, lots of food, a photo station and even a barrel train ride! Here’s a few photos from the event. We were able to host about 70 kids along with their parents and families for the day. This is going to become an annual event and we hope that you and your family will come next year!
Happy Wednesday to everybody! The youth has started a 13-week study entitled, “Stories of the Old Testament.” It’s surprising that we can cover the whole Old Testament in 13-weeks, but I know we will pull through it. With these lessons, they’re are designed as more of a scripture reading and discussion type lessons with assignments and homework to go with it. The youth AREN’T required to do it, but there is a reward if they do. So hopefully, we can get them to do it. 🙂 If you do the assignment, send it to me at email@example.com and I will give you credit for it. 09-11-the-god-of-creation-pptx 09-18-the-problem-with-sin-pptx god-sets-a-plan-in-motion-9-25-pptx 10-02-the-exodus God Bless ~~~Marc M.
