Here are some things that happened to our youth in 2018:

Zachary P.: “Yay! I made friends.”

Jackson P.: “I learned some new things about God, Jesus, music, and stuff.”

Aiden R.: “I learned that Peeps that are like two months old are healthy for you.”

Kenny S.: “I learned how to spot grammar mistakes really easily…*hint* *hint* teacher ”

~~Marc M.: “I have been so impressed to see a lot of new faces from the start in September 2018. We’ve had 6 new faces join us since then. I can wait to see what 2019 has in store for the Bethany Youth!”

October 2017 Tower Notes

I’m in the process of updating the online calendar but please take a moment and download and read the October Tower Notes. Sorry I was running a bit late with the online updates this month.

Don’t forget, this weekend, October 7th is the Fall Festival! From 11am-2pm, come for a time of Food, Family Fun, and Fellowship!

If anyone is interested in being a part of our web ministry, I would love to hear from you! We use WordPress for our blog and I’d love to work with some other members of our congregation on graphic design, wordpress site management, social media management, etc. This would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to get their feet wet with managing an internet presence and it’s actually really fun.

Now, on to the highlights for this month.

Pastor Cathi continues teaching us about Conflict that transforms and blesses the church. This has been an incredible study with practical, hands on tips for managing conflict not only within the church, but also our families, our workplaces, and our communities. The entire series will be posted online with the power point presentations for reference and sharing.

The young adult bible study continues on Monday evenings at 5pm.

Tuesdays feature Men’s Night Out at 6pm. Also, everyone’s favorite indoor activity, Roller Skating starts back up on 10/3 at 6:30pm. Come strap on some skates and take a spin around the Fellowship Hall. At 7pm, Intercessory Prayer continues in the sanctuary. This prayer group meets throughout the year at the same time and place.

Our Wednesdays are full of fun, fellowship and now MUSIC! There really is something for everyone on Wednesday nights. See the schedule below. What will you get involved in?

Bethany Band – 6:30pm
Choir – 7:15pm
Bethany Bells – 7:45pm

Sundays we worship together at 10:30am, but there are also Sunday School classes available for all ages at 9am.

Sunday School Options

Amy Dickinson teaches the younger children (Kindergarten – 4^th grade) in room 4

Marc Middleton teaches the youth (5^th-12^th grade) in room 3

Sue Boyse teaches the adults through a book study by Joel Olsteen in room 2. There’s no need to purchase the book or read the lessons before coming on Sunday Morning

Jerry Bradow leads the Pathfinders class in the lounge (room 1). They do a book by book study of the bible.

*All the Sunday School rooms are in the entrance wing of the church across from the main office

Wednesday Night Live is baaaack!

We missed you all over the summer break! Now, hurry up and come back to Wednesday Night Live!

Here’s the schedule for Wednesday nights this fall.

Wednesday Evening Schedule:

CORE – 3:00pm For 5th – 12th graders
Wednesday Night Live – 5:00pm – Various classes for all ages
Dinner – 6:00pm – All are welcome!
Bethany Band – 6:30pm
Choir – 7:15pm
Bethany Bells – 7:45pm

Final Wednesday Night Live of the season!

All good things must come to an end and so we draw our Wednesday Night Live sessions to an end until the fall.

The final night for community dinner at Wednesday Night Live is April 27th. CORE, an after school ministry for grades 5 – 12, will continue, contact Marc Middleton for details. The 5pm Bible Study will be continuing as well.

Children & Youth Ministry updates

Today is Wednesday and that means that after school, our middle school & high school youth will converge upon the church for CORE from 2:45pm – 5:00pm. At 5:00pm, families, adults, younger children will gather for Bible Study, missions, music, and a family style dinner. Rumor has it that it is taco night! If you want to share in a community meal, consider joining us at 5:00pm for classes followed by dinner at 6pm.

If you are interested in preparing a meal one (or more!) Wednesdays a month for a group of 50 or 60, please see Amy or Marc or call the church office. You pick the meal, Amy or Marc shop, you prepare the meal and everyone enjoys it together! The Wednesday community meal is a longstanding Bethany tradition and all are welcome to come and explore matters of faith, meet new friends and reconnect with old friends. You can read updates from Amy & Marc on our Children and Youth Ministry activities in the February tower notes.

Wednesday evenings at 5:00pm, the youth and children get to decide what groups they want to be involved in. One option is to work on a Mission project. Adult leaders help the children to visualize a service project and then put it into action. The kids wanted to do something special for the shut-ins for the month of February and they worked very hard on making Valentine’s baskets and then they spent an evening delivering them and bringing some cheer and conversation to the people they made the baskets for. If you are interested in getting involved in Youth Missions, show up on Wednesdays with a willing heart or contact the church office for more details.
