We continue our Advent series called “From Generation to Generation.” The stories, scriptures, and traditions of Christmas have been passed down to us throughout the generations. The Christmas story weaves us in – to remember how God has shown up in the past, to continue the work of collective liberation, and to behold the presence of God in flesh and bone.
When Gabriel goes to Mary, she’s both confused and afraid. Yet, Gabriel message is: “Do not be afraid.” From generation to generation, God show up in our fears, uncertainties, and confusion. Faithful people have said “yes” despite their apprehension. Our ancestors accepted this invitation.
Today we also celebrated the sacrament of Holy Communion.
