Greetings!
Working with the kids brings lots of enjoyment and seeing the kids become excited about our lessons and interested in learning more brings so much fulfillment. We wanted to share a few updates from recent weeks at Children’s Ministry and invite more kids to join us. Children’s ministry is focused on Grades 4 and below.
Sunday School – Children’s Sunday School meets on Sunday mornings at 9am. All kids are invited. We have Bible lessons and a craft. At the same time, classes are meeting for all ages, so come as a family!
Wednesday Night Live – Kids up to 4th grade meet at 5:00pm for class. Many kids arrive a bit early for a snack at 4:30pm. Following class, we all gather with the adults and the older youth for community dinner together. In January 2017, we started working on Gratefulness Journals. The kids have really been enjoying drawing pictures of what they are thankful for every day. The grown-ups around here are feeling blessed that we have such a thankful group of kids who think of others and are thoughtful and considerate.
Worship – We still have Prayer Packets available during Worship (Sundays at 10:30) for children to bring to their seat in the pew and color and do quiet activities. Ask any usher and they’ll get your child a prayer packet. Write the child’s name on it and leave it with an usher when you leave and it will be ready and waiting for you next time you return to worship. It’s really fun to watch the journals improve and change as the children’s grow. Also, don’t forget that we have a nursery attendant available during worship if you want to worship without the little ones. Nursery is best suited for children up to age 5. We love having children in worship. If you worry about bringing a child with you, please speak with someone at the welcome desk or at the church office. Here are a few tips for getting through the sermon that might help parents of young kids concerned about bringing them to worship.
Operation Christmas Child – We packed & shipped 102 boxes in November! We continue to collect items for next year, feel free to drop donations off any time. This is an awesome mission project that the kids can work on all year long. This year, our boxes were shipped to Zambia.
Roller Skating – Don’t forget that Roller Skating is continuing on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. This is a night of great fun & exercise. It’s a great time for the kids to see what the church building looks like and meet some of the people here without any stress or anxiety. Skating is right here in our Fellowship Hall and it is perfect for new skaters just learning and even for parents. We have skates available and hope to see you there!
