Welcome, Marc Middleton! New Youth Director

We would all like to welcome Marc Middleton to Bethany UMC. Marc joined the church staff as Youth Director in early December. He’s been getting to know the youth that currently attend and getting familiar with the church family. Marc comes to us from Mt. Morris First UMC. If you see Marc around the halls, stop and say hello and make him feel welcome!

Meet Marc Middleton – Youth Director

I graduated from E.A. Johnson High School in Mt. Morris in 2013 and am currently attending the University of Michigan – Flint for my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. I have been the assistant youth leader at the First United Methodist Church for the last 2.5 years. My goal is to build the relationship between the youth and God. I also strive to help them learn the Bible and use the teachings in daily life.

I plan to keep office hours for anyone interested in connecting in regards to the youth. Please visit me in the church office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am-3pm, call me at 810-701-4644, or email me at youth@cliobethany.org.

We are excited to have you here and can’t wait to find out how God will use you in this Body of Christ. Marc welcomes any questions or just conversations from parents or congregation members. I, (Elizabeth, the webmaster) took Marc out to lunch along with my 10 year old niece, Hope, to learn more about him and his plans for the youth. Marc is dedicated to helping our youth grow in their relationship with God.

Marc will be leading the youth Sunday School and our CORE program. Amy Dickinson remains the Director of Children’s Ministries, and Wednesday Night Live.

It’s a Wonder-Full Life: Spiritual practice feeds that part of ourselves that is oriented toward
serenity, harmony, truth, compassion, gratitude, love and joy. But these are not always words we use to describe the role of money in our lives. In the classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a crisis of money
creates vastly diverse reactions from several characters that can hold up a mirror to our own relationships with money.

Do Unto Others: In October 2024, Pastor Sarah led us through a sermon series during a divisive election season where we learned about Doing Unto Others through kindness, compassion, humility, respect and love.

Uncommon Wisdom: In September 2024 Pastor Sarah will share some uncommon biblical wisdom during this 5 part preaching series.

Reshaped: What We’re Made For – In this 4 part series from August 2024 – Pastor Sarah led us through a worship series about getting animated and embracing change. AND we played with a lot of play-do! Experience this series again!

Lay Speakers Includes many sermons from our laity over the years including Jerry Mowl, our All Music Sunday, and most recently Randy Hildebrandt of God’s Country Community Ministry. We also include here a guest clergy speaker, Kim Bos from November of 2023.

Mission Projects – 2024

Everyone can participate!

Ongoing – LOVE Food Pantry – Accepting cash donations and non-perishable food donations
Aluminum & Steel Tabs and Bottle Caps – Den & Karen Nichols collect these in support of Ronald McDonald House, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The monies earned from this collection go to providing a place for families to stay at Ronald McDonald house while their children are being treated there.
Ongoing – Collect items for Operation Christmas Child. Toys, hygiene products, crayons, hats, gloves, etc. must be able to fit in shoe box, no liquids, and no weapon or war like toys. Bring them to church office or youth ministry!
